The changing of the seasons has brought renewed energy to the Lane County Chapter. With existing members reengaging and the addition of three new members, we’re excited for the year ahead. To boost participation, the chapter is incorporating more social events, field trips, and hands-on projects, while shifting toward briefer and/or quarterly business meetings.

In November, we hosted a member social at a local brewpub that provided a great opportunity for connection and planning. We also awarded scholarship funds to Junction City FFA to support their greenhouse with supplies, helping students use the space for agricultural classes and plant sales that support their program. The chapter additionally connected the FFA with a member-owned nursery for further support.

Lane Chapter December Meeting and Wreath Making at Harrisburg High School

December brought a well-attended business meeting paired with a wreath-making event, drawing prospective members as well as attendees from Linn-Benton. The chapter continues to closely monitor several state bills and appreciates the legislative updates provided at both local and state levels, and are working towards reigniting involvement with some chapter projects.  We also remain engaged at the state level, discussing recent and upcoming changes and goals OWA is experiencing.

Looking ahead, Lane County will be partnering closely with Ag in the Classroom to support their programming goals, while continuing our commitment to the annual Literacy Project. From socials to service, we’re promoting agriculture, uniting members, and educating along the way.
