Meet our new OWA President, Dana Bowers-Brock

Apr 20, 2026 | Leadership

When asked how I got involved in Oregon Women in Agriculture, the short answer is: it’s in my blood.  I grew up on a grass seed farm, playing Barbies in my dad’s windrower, reading books during slow periods while driving bankout wagon, pulling lambs before softball practice, selling grass seed as a cover crop before I’d earned my high school diploma.  I love Oregon Ag.  I love surrounding myself with smart women from diverse backgrounds. I love advocacy and education.  Being a leader in OWA is a natural and exciting next step for me.

Dana Bowers-Brock, President
Oregon Women for Agriculture

We are strongest as an organization when we are respectful of our differences and united in our mission. We are a diverse group of women, and are a part of an even more diverse agricultural landscape across our state. When OWA started, it was to create strength in numbers to lobby for policy that impacted farmers.  We have since extended our mission to promoting, educating, and uniting, but let’s not lose OWA’s foundation: Together, our voices are louder.

In thinking about my plans and hopes for my presidency, I will bring compassionate and fair leadership, strengthen communication across our chapters, and plan to reinvigorate member engagement.  My background as a clinical social worker brings knowledge on nonprofit procedures and experiences in leadership.  I aim to be approachable, curious, and flexible enough to support all of our chapters and members.  I will encourage and expect a culture of mutual respect and support for all members; individually, at events, or at board meetings.  I have big plans to promote the story of Oregon Agriculture, and hope to share more information on that soon!

On a more personal note, I have lived a thousand lives and have a million stories to share.  I sing and play several instruments, including the accordion.  I’ve lived in New York and been in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.  I’ve held a job in Costa Rica.  I make a fantastic red wine braised short rib.  I love traveling abroad as much as I love sitting in the John Day with a book and my dogs.  I also am a full time social worker at a small nonprofit in Eugene, supporting adults with disabilities.  I breed multigenerational goldendoodles, many of whom become therapy and service dogs.  Finally, and most importantly, I farm grass and other seeds alongside my supportive husband.  I’m 5th generation on my family land, and love the stewardship and passion my ancestors managed it with, and hope to continue their legacy for years to come.

I am always happy to hear your story – in email, over wine, or on a walk.  If you have ideas, concerns, or want to connect, reach out.  Thank you for being a member.  You are valued, you do important work, and you make OWA strong.
