We had a great group for our Stop the Bleed class on Thursday, October 9th at the Polk County OSU Extension office in Dallas. It was a mix of students and adults that were engaged in the materials. We plan to host another event spring/early summer 2026.
We are pleased to share that Arlene Kovash was recognized at the November American Agri-Women meeting with the Erickson/McCrum Agricultural Mentor Award. Arlene could not attend in person and received the award at the December OWA state board meeting.
On November 13th, our chapter was recognized at the Polk County 4-H Fall Awards & Recognition Night at the Polk County Fairgrounds. Arlene Kovash, Carol Marx, Jeree Mulkey and Diann Washburn attended. We were presented with the “Friend of 4-H Award” for our contributions to their education programs. It was wonderful to hear about the other award recipients and to cheer on this wonderful organization.

In December we participated in the “Steppin’ Up” – Festival of Trees event sponsored by the Dallas Chamber of Commerce. Fourteen local businesses partnered with a non-profit to display a tree (created with ladders) and provided an auction item for a silent auction. The proceeds benefited the non-profits. We partnered with Cascade Home Center, and our auction item was a garden basket. The community was asked to vote on the best tree and to participate in the auction. It was a fun event!
