Happy spring from Yamhill County. We have been attending to the usual chapter business that the New Year brings, completing our 2025 officer nominations and elections and annual budgeting at our January and February meetings. We renewed our 2024 slate of officers for 2025, thus I will remain as president, Susie Kreder as vice president, Helle Ruddenklau as treasurer, and Eunice Goodrich as secretary. In 2024, we had a couple new members who contributed to our chapter greatly, as well as continued support from long standing members, which has continued into 2025. It is always lovely to have new and old perspectives at the table for our chapter meetings.
We continue to support our local schools and local FFA chapters and were pleased to awarded the Perrydale school a $500 grant for a hydroponic system to grow food for its school lunches. We consider grant applications year-round, and look forward to seeing what other fun projects we might be able to fund this year. Our chapter accepts grant applications from Yamhill County FFA chapters, as well as Western Mennonite School and Perrydale School.
Our 2025 $750 Community College scholarship application is available and we are accepting applications until April 11, 2025. Applicants must be planning on or attending a community college and majoring in an agriculturally related field. Graduates or students about to graduate from a Yamhill County public or private high school, Western Mennonite School, Perrydale School or students home schooled within Yamhill County are eligible. We hope to have many applications to review!
Additionally, after quite a hiatus, we are happy to once again be offering our $1,000 scholarship to an OSU student. OSU Juniors and seniors, enrolled in, or who will be enrolled in, an agricultural or natural resource program, and graduated from high school in Yamhill County, or have a connection to Yamhill County are eligible. Please help us spread the word.
Our chapter will be slinging pick-a-prize tickets again this year at Auction. We look forward to seeing everyone at the event!
Chapter meetings are held one Saturday a month in person at 9 am.
