We continued to meet monthly during the summer months. We provided 200 AITC Living Necklace kits for the Polk County Fair in August, for the Polk County OSU Extension booth.
Karen Sanks, General Manager for the Itemizer Observer, attended our July monthly meeting to brainstorm ideas for Constitution Day. Last year she helped us put together a two-page ad with great information for kids to learn more about the Constitution, including a coloring page. Karen left her position mid-August so unfortunately, we could not do the same ad as last year, but Carol Marx provided a letter to the editor instead with a link to great information, that will publish right around Constitution Day, September 17th.
We congratulated PCWA member Sarrah McMaster for receiving the Rich Wolcott Award from the Dallas Chamber of Commerce! Sarrah works closely with the chamber and has suggested several new opportunities for our chapter to join.
We committed to providing kid-friendly activities during the Dallas Chamber, Big Foot event on September 28th. We will manage the booth for four hours and provide coloring sheets and Living Necklaces for children to experience.
We are currently accepting names for our next Stop the Bleed class. It will be held on Thursday, October 9th at the Polk County OSU Extension office in Dallas from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm.
PCWA meetings are on the second Monday of each month at Westside Pacific Family Restaurant in Rickreall, from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM. All are welcome to join us!
Have a great fall!
Diann Washburn, President
Polk County Chapter
